Everything's Just Fine and Dandy
And the countdown continues...in 2 days I will be exactly 5 months pregnant! I had another prenatal appointment today. I actually only have been having them once every 4 weeks, but it probably seems a lot more frequent since I'm so bad at posting on here any other time! Everything is going well with the baby - I'm measuring just fine for my dates now and his heartbeat sounded good. I have gained 7 pounds. Yikes! It seems like a lot of weight to gain in 4 weeks, but nobody cared because it was the only weight I've gained so far. My blood pressure has also gone up. I always clock in at 110/60, but today I was 120/70. Which the nurse still said was good. I also got my paperwork to take in for my LAST Blood Tests!! Yay! I hate blood tests so I'm glad they're almost over. They're going to do another full blood workup, second syphilis test (geesh, you'd think they would just trust the first one) and a glucose tolerance test to check for gestational diabetes. For that particular test, I have to drink some sweet orangey flavored drink that my mom says tastes terrible and then sit for an hour before they take my blood. I guess I'll be bringing a book to the lab so I don't die of boredom. Not that I usually have a problem with sitting around and doing nothing! I also got a new prescription for my anti-throwup medicine, since the old one ran out. I experimented with not taking it anymore, and promptly puked up my breakfast yesterday. So I guess I am one of those lucky women who get to suffer from "morning" sickness well into their pregnancy, and possibly through the whole thing. As long as the doctor keeps writing out the precriptions, I'll be fine!
In separate, yet related news, the baby's room is coming along nicely. We have the changing table and diaper pail all set up, and this past weekend we went and picked up the crib that my parents are letting us borrow. They don't need it anymore for kids of their own, but they would like to have it for future grandchildren. Right now they don't have a place to set it up because my 22 year old sister is in vet school and still living in the room that they would put it in. We also have cute curtains and decorations on the wall. Now all we need is the baby! Well, not yet actually. We have plenty more stuff to get, plus he only weighs about a pound. So he better "cook" a little longer! I am getting pretty exicted, though. He moves so much now that I've come to expect it at regular intervals. When he's quiet for a few hours I get worried that something is wrong, but then of course before too long he starts rockin' and a rollin' again. But the worrying is normal - I suppose I'll worry about him for the rest of my life! What's a mother for, anyway?
Well, better get back to work. I've been pretty lazy today, but I have to say that I am proud of all the work I got done last week. Better keep it up! It's a pretty busy time at the office. 'Later.
