Beach Baby

Matthew went to the beach! Well, he's been to the beach before. But not since he's actually been old enough to enjoy it. We took him up to Silver Beach in St. Joseph, MI last Sunday morning. He enjoyed the water, but he mostly just wanted to sit in the sand and play with his shovel and bucket. I think he could have stayed there playing all day, but we only stayed there a couple of hours (Coppertone Water Babies SPF 50 is awesome, by the way). Actually I think Matthew could stay outside in general all day. My parents are coming to visit this weekend. I wanted to do something outdoors for part of the day, but it turns out the forecast is calling for lower-mid 90s. TOO HOT! We might take a (short) walk or even a dip in the pool, but I am not hanging out in those temperatures for a long period of time. We'll just have to find something fun to do indoors :o)

Water Baby

We took Matthew to our apartment complex's pool a couple evening ago. He loved it! It was a bit chilly, so we only stayed for 5-10 minutes or so. And he didn't like it when I tried to put him on his back to float a bit. But other than that he seemed to have a very good time. We'll have to go again sometime soon when it's warmer (it's been cooler than average, lately - very different from the near 100 degree temperatures we had a few weeks ago!).

Zoos and Goats and Haircuts, Oh My!

We took Matthew to the zoo last Friday evening...he was still only mildly impressed. He did, however, enjoy petting the goats in the petting zoo. Then on Saturday I took him to get his hair cut. Clippers. One inch all over. Looks like a BIG boy!

In other news, we have decided to try for another baby. There are various reasons for trying NOW instead of, say, a few months from now (we always wanted our children to be fairly close in age without being one right after the other) . I won't go into them all, but they have to do with our living and my job situation. I have mixed feelings about having another baby. Pregnancy was not my favorite thing to go through. Nor was being up 3 times a night for many months in a row. I also worry that another baby will mean that I won't be able to give Matthew enough attention, and that my husband and I will be so busy with the kids that we will have zero time or desire to just be a couple sometimes. God knows we have trouble with that now with only one child. But I also know for a fact that I want more than one baby, and I also feel (just my opinion, of course, others may disagree) that Matthew will benefit from having a little brother or sister "close" to his age. And the younger sibling will benefit also. So here we go! Pray for us! ;o)

Matthew is still trying to kick a cold that he's had for 5 days now. Poor kid shoots snot strings out of his nose everytime he sneezes, which is fairly often. He has trouble eating, too, since he can't really breathe out of his nose. And sleeping, since he still uses a paci. Hopefully he'll feel better soon.

In other news, we recently took a vacation to southern Indiana (French Lick & West Baden Springs). There sure isn't much to do around there, but the hotels are lovely. Here are a couple of pictures of Matthew (and Mommy) from our trip.
